DEMING –Bridge deck repairs on Interstate 10 at mile marker 81 in the eastbound lanes will begin on Wednesday, April 15.
During construction, traffic on the bridge will be reduced to one lane. Crews will begin work in the passing (left) lane and once completed, will shift operations to the driving (right) lane.
Lane closures will be in place throughout the duration of the project. Work is scheduled Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and anticipated to be completed by May 2026, weather permitting.
Motorists are advised to reduce speeds and follow all posted signage when traveling through the work zone.

April 19 at 10:00 am, 3845 North Swan Street – "Meditation"
William Smith has been practicing meditation on the inner Divine Light and Sound current for 53 years. He was initiated in this meditation by Sant Kirpal Singh Ji Maharaj in 1973 and spent two months with him in India in 1974. He has continued to study under the guidance of the successors, Sant Darshan Singh Ji Maharaj and Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Marharaj, the current Master of this meditation and head of Science of Spirituality.
Smith is a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel engineer and has a master's degree in Geographic Information Systems. As an Army officer, he pioneered this new technology within the Department of Defense. He is a graduate of the Command and General Staff College and has held many leadership positions during his successful 20-year military career.
William Smith has always been passionate about meditation. Since retiring he has spent 22 years volunteering as a summer camp director teaching children how to meditate and inspiring them to incorporate ethical living into one's life. He has taught numerous classes on this important topic to a variety of audiences. He enjoys traveling and giving talks on meditation in the US and internationally.
All ages are welcome to attend the Sunday program.

Brenda Hume caught two striped bass, including a 28-inch, 13-pound, 14-ounce fish, using small umbrella rigs on April 3.
Bear Canyon Lake: Fishing conditions have been adversely affected in the aftermath of the Trout Fire.
Bill Evans Lake: The most recent report was received April 2. At that time, fishing for largemouth bass was very good when using HendrixFishing 6-inch VooDoo Finesse Worms and fair to good when using square bills.
